Keep Me is a modern mash-up of Hedda Gabler and Miss Julie, reimagining the question: Did they both have to die in the end? In this adaptation, Hedda and Julie are sisters whose newly deceased father, General Gabler, left them to navigate a collapsing estate and the dangerous ambitions of John, a character blending Jean and John from the original works. As power shifts and psychological games escalate, the story unravels into a real time, tense exploration of survival, agency, and the cost of reclaiming one’s narrative.
As writer, director, and actor, I balanced my onstage role with directing duties, and ensured the production stayed cohesive, charged, and character-driven. The result was a bold, layered reinterpretation that gave Hedda and Julie new life, and new choices on their own terms.
